New leasing team for retail space in 580 Building

Cassidy Turley Commercial Real Estate Services is the new listing agent for retail space at the 580 Building.

Signs were recently posted in available street-level retail spaces of the downtown Cincinnati building. Andrew Sellet, vice president with Cassidy Turley, and Terry Ohnmies, associate with Cassidy Turley, are working to fill between 20,000 and 25,000 square feet of space.

Sellet said the building has already garnered interest from a number of regional restaurants and other service-type retailers.

“Nobody has signed yet, but we’re starting to trade terms,” Sellet told me Wednesday.

Potential tenants are interested in the space because of the current activity near the building and the new owner’s plans for conversion to mixed-use.

Anderson Birkla Investment Partners LLC purchased the building for $13.7 million on Feb. 5. Birkla plans to invest about $30 million to convert the building into a mixed-use complex anchored by upscale apartments, Class A office and restaurant/entertainment uses.

Tony Birkla, a principal of the Indianapolis-based development and management company, was not immediately available for comment.

In addition to the street-level space, the building’s skywalk space will be reformatted, too, giving additional options for boutiques and service retailers.

“We’re excited to be back out in the market,” Sellet said. “It’s been well received, especially with everything else that’s happening up and down Sixth Street.”
